John Masters Clean Air Salon Concept

John Masters Salon in New York is the first Clean Air Salon in the United States, and perhaps the world.  John, being truly passionate about the environment, created a Clean Air Salon to be more environmentally friendly.  The salon does not use products with toxic fumes.  They also don’t do nails, hair straightening, permenents, or even use hair spray.  That’s a bold move for any salon owner!  John’s hair colorants are herbal based and pneumonia-free, and are absolutely odor-free.  Amazingly, his salon is powered 100% by wind power.   The concept of running an entire business on wind power alone is phenomenal.

We need more big-thinkers like John.  Kudos to John Masters for thinking outside the box and being cognizant about the environment and our health!

Achieve Beautiful Fingernails

fingernailsThe fall and winter months can be torture on your skin and nails.  You can reduce the amount of torture they endure, however, by proper care.  One way to protect fingernails and keep them looking healthy is to apply a clear coat of polish to them.  Even if you aren’t a fan of painted nails, applying a clear coat is more so for protection than beauty (although it can be pretty, too.)  A clear coat of polish will lock in the natural moisture and protect the nails to make them stronger.   It also gives you a more polished (pardon the pun) overall appearance.  Be sure to moisturize hands often, making sure to rub lotion into your cuticles to keep them soft and moisturized.  It’s as easy as that to have pretty fingernails.

Proper Blow Out

blow-dryer-nozzle.png   Not utilizing the nozzle that came with your blow dryer?  You should be.  The nozzle concentrates and controls airflow to speed dry hair, keeping hair from whipping around, therefore, keeping hair healthier.  Aiming the nozzle down the hair shaft increases shine.

Lash Extensions

eyelash-extensions.jpg   eyelash-extensions-2.jpg

There’s a new craze sweeping our nation of pretty faces, eyelash extensions.  What is it?  Eyelash extensions are applied by professionals, using a surgical glue to attach long, luxurious lashes to your current lashes.  The overall look is simply beautiful, but, there is a price to pay, literally and figuratively.  But if you are willing to pay the price, you can have the experience that all the celebrities and fashion magazines are talking about!

The pros are long, luscious and beautiful eyelashes without the hassles of applying and reapplying mascara or eyelash strips.  Eyelash Extensions provide longer, thicker, luscious and natural looking eyelashes. Eyelash extensions are not your traditional fake eyelash strips, they are semi-permanent individual eyelash extensions. Once applied, Eyelash extensions give you beautiful and natural looking eyelashes all day and all night.

The cons:  Touchups are required once every two weeks and cost.  An initial application will cost you between $275.00 to $400.00 (depending on your location), and every two week touch-ups will run you between $60.00 to $150.00.  Expensive, and they’ll keep you running to the salon twice a month.

They are oh-so-gorgeous, though.  Whether they be eyelash extensions or glued on strip lashes, you won’t find a female face in Hollywood without lashes.  They turn on the glamour and make your eyes look sexy and kitteny.

If you’ve got the time and the budget, lash extensions will certainly turn up the sexy to your look.   And as much as I hate to admit it, having a high maintenance beauty routine will give you incredible results (results being undeniable in the photos above.)

Contact your day spa, salon, or even Google eyelash extensions to find professionals in your area.
