exfoliating-gloves.jpg    Get your skin in bikini condition with exfoliating gloves.  These gentle, yet slightly abrasive, gloves will slough off dry skin.  They are much easier to use than a large loofah sponge, and more effective, enabling you to scrub all of your bits and pieces.  Also, great for mild exfoliation of the face.  No shower should be without these gloves!   Available at drug and grocery stores….pick some up today and watch your skin transform into smooth softness.

web-ready-island-coconut-update-july-6.jpg   Island Coconut Spa Soap was our highest selling soap of the summer.  Summer + Island Coconut…makes sense, right?  To our surprise, the sales have remained strong straight through the winter, and now into the new year.   I guess it’s not a summer thing?  And lets face it, smelling good and having great skin is a year ’round thing.

It’s called Spa Soap because everything about it personifies luxury, from the thick hand-cut 1.5 inch soaps to the sensational aromatherapeutic benefits it provides.  I knew this soap was a winner immediately; and after daily use on my face and body, it lives up to its reputation.   Proven in clinical trials not to cause breakouts or dry skin out.   This is a must try!  …believe the hype.

Use Protection

winter-girl.jpg   Now that temperatures are bitter cold for most parts of the country, we have to switch our focus into protection; protect your skin, your nails, and your hair.

web-ready-body-butter-label-sarong-1.jpg   Protect your skin:  Lacking the sun’s exposure and the light of day for the most part, your skin needs some extra attention in the colder months.  A good multivitamin is a great way to get your vitamin D, essential for healthy skin.  If you don’t have at least 20 minutes of sun exposure on your skin each day, you need to be taking a multivitamin that contains the highest amount of vitamin D you can find.  Moisturizing is also key.  Keep lotion or a body butter on you at all times.  Keep some at work.  Keep some in the car.   Keep some on your night stand.  Moisturize as often as you can to avoid overtly dry, flaking skin.  Drinking lots of water will keep your skin looking healthy as well.   H2O puffs the skin back out and makes wrinkles less noticeable.

hand-butter-picture-black.jpg   Protect your nails:  Winter nails can look dirty and unkempt unless you are putting some time into them.   The easiest and prettiest way to protect nails is to put polish on them.  Polish protects the nails from the elements and keeps them from turning brittle.  Even if you aren’t a fan of nail polish, you need to at least throw a clear coat on your nails to protect them.  A great cuticle oil applied regularly will keep hang nails at bay.  Keep in mind that nothing ruins a look faster than brittle nails that lack attention in the upkeep department.

beautiful-hair.jpg   Protect your hair:  Hair, too, can really ruin your day if you’re not taking proper measures to take care of it.  Don’t wash your hair everyday.  Exposure to too many elements, such as chemicals in your shampoo or even exposure to hard water combined with the cold air can leave your hair frizzy, brittle, and unattractive.  If possible, get your ends trimmed every other month.  Also go for the extra conditioning with a deep conditioner or a hot oil treatment.

Take the time to protect your skin, nails, and hair or they’ll turn on you.  Stay pretty and make the effort to protect.

pedicure-paddle.jpg   Ever seen one of these at the drug store and wonder if they work?  I’m here to tell  you, they do!  This pedicure paddle, essentially a pumice stone on a stick, works great on dry skin on the feet.   Just smooth the stick over the bottom of wet feet in the shower to slough off rough skin.  Especially good on feet after a grueling workout in gym shoes.  Every shower should have one of these.  It’s an inexpensive way to keep your feet baby soft.

Asprin Green Tea Mask Recipe

facial-mask.jpg   Skin care routine for combination skin, dry and acne prone, once per week. This is a mask and should be kept on the skin for 10 minutes. It contains aspirin which is a form is Salicylic acid and is great for keeping acne away. You don’t need to crush it. It will fall apart if you put a drop of water on the pill for a minute or two. Don’t use more than one or two aspirins or it will really sting and dry out your face.

One aspirin
Two teaspoons full fat unsweetened yogurt
(can also use olive oil or almond oil)
One teaspoon green tea powder macha tea
One teaspoon honey

Mix it together and apply to face and neck. After 10 minutes you can gently exfoliate your skin with the aspirin bits. You can make a large batch and it will store for several weeks in the fridge.

Thanks to Zoe for submitting this recipe.
