A new trend in haircare currently is dry shampoo. It’s particularly good for hair that tends to go oily.
If you want to see if dry shampoo will work for you, you can easily achieve similar results with cornstarch at home.
That’s right, simple cornstarch from your kitchen pantry works exactly like the main ingredient in dry shampoos, and it’s a fraction of the cost.
Simply shake a small amount of cornstarch on your hair, starting at the scalp, and working your way down the hair to the ends. The cornstarch absorbs excess oils. In total, you’ll use approximately 1/2 cup of cornstarch for medium to long length hair, somewhat less for shorter hair.

The tousled look of “beach hair” is super-easy to accomplish, and you can make your own “beach hair” in a bottle product at home. Combine 4 ounces of hot distilled water, a teaspoon of Kosher sea salt, and a few drops of organic lavender essential oil together in a spray bottle. The hot distilled water will help melt the salt. Shake well. Spray on your hair as you are scrunching it in your hands, then set with a low setting on the hair dryer. Sexy beachy hair in seconds. It’s a great look for summer.

John Masters Salon in New York is the first Clean Air Salon in the United States, and perhaps the world. John, being truly passionate about the environment, created a Clean Air Salon to be more environmentally friendly. The salon does not use products with toxic fumes. They also don’t do nails, hair straightening, permenents, or even use hair spray. That’s a bold move for any salon owner! John’s hair colorants are herbal based and pneumonia-free, and are absolutely odor-free. Amazingly, his salon is powered 100% by wind power. The concept of running an entire business on wind power alone is phenomenal.
We need more big-thinkers like John. Kudos to John Masters for thinking outside the box and being cognizant about the environment and our health!

Always playing with your hair? Me too! But we shouldn’t be. Did you know that your fingers deposit debris and oil onto your hair? One of the quickest ways to dull it down and make it literally dirty is to mindlessley play with or twirl your hair.

Things I love about it:
1. It’s much lighter than a perfume, and you can spray it all over your body without being too overpowering.
2. The aroma is amazing! Citrusy, clean, crisp. Absolutely beautiful.
3. It’s made with Natural Organic Pure Grapefruit Essential Oils.
4. I love that I found a scent that I’m in love with! I constantly get compliments on how good I smell.
5. It’s made by an eco-conscious company.
6. It makes you feel ultra girly-girl. What’s not to love about that?
7. I love keeping a bottle it in the refrigerator to make it cool. It’s so refreshing on the face and skin.
8. I love spraying it in my hair. …the aroma lasts for hours.

Rosemary is traditionally known as the herb associated with hair. It has been said that it strengthens the hair and stimulates the scalp, and Rosemary essential oil is also thought to stimulate the mind and lift fatigue. And it makes your hair smell good, too!
Put a few sprigs of fresh rosemary in a heatproof bowl and pour on boiling water. Allow them to steep and, when cool, take out the Rosemary. Use as a final rinse to keep hair glossy and sleek . Rosemary also helps discourage dandruff. You can put the rest of the infusion into a pretty glass bottle and keep in the fridge, or somewhere out of direct light, for later use.
Rosemary is easy to grow, and spreads fairly quickly in either container gardening, or in-ground gardening.

Read your shampoo labels. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) can result in eye damage, irritations, and skin rashes. SLS can penetrate children’s eyes and prevent them from developing properly. It may also cause cataracts in adults. You’ll be shocked to learn this dangerous ingredient is in many store-bought shampoos …including traditional baby shampoos that allege they are mild. (Go ready your shampoo label now.) Read those labels, make better choices, buy wisely, go green.

Book Review: Rinnavation, Getting Your Best Life Ever.
Author: Lisa Rinna.
Talk about a pleasant surprise….Lisa Rinna’s book has me surprised! In Lisa’s new book, Rinnavation, she shares with us advice she’s learned over the years from celebrity stylists and celebrity hair and makeup artists. She also shares secrets on diet, exercise, beauty, even sex!
She shares a lot of her life with us in her book, to include her delicious husband, Harry Hamlin, and her two beautiful daughters. And for the record, she shares lots, and I mean lots, of sexual tricks in the bedroom she and Harry have. I love that spice about Lisa.
Another discovery is that Lisa is deep…spiritually, emotionally, sexually, etc. Beyond the blatant beauty she exudes (and such good hair), girlfriend is a self-help junkie and for that reason alone, one could love her! When a person reveals their card-carrying membership of the “Self-Help-Club”, you feel they are part of a society that few understand.
Self-help lovers are continually seeking excellence. They continually seek making the world a better place to live in for themselves and others. They continually strive to be more….to create more, to produce abundance. And they practice being happy beings. It’s an amazing secret-society, of sorts, that makes you feel more connected to one another. It’s an unwritten understanding between people who “get” the self-help genre, and those who don’t.
Lisa delves into her personal life and her beauty and fitness routines. She gives us the skinny on how she looks so darn good all the time. She even explains the lips…silicone! She explains the ambition….The Secret and the Power of Positive Thinking. She explains the happiness….Great sex life with Harry. She explains the body….fitness-fiend. She explains the boobs…plastic surgery.
In summary, Lisa tells you how to get your best life ever. The basic premise of it is, and always has been, exercise, eating well, big thinking, loving your life, and continual learning.
Five stars!

Not utilizing the nozzle that came with your blow dryer? You should be. The nozzle concentrates and controls airflow to speed dry hair, keeping hair from whipping around, therefore, keeping hair healthier. Aiming the nozzle down the hair shaft increases shine.
